Q: What is the difference between normal ABS and Sport ABS in Subaru WRX STI ?
A: To keep it short, basically a sport ABS system is less sensitive and allows much more variation in wheel speeds when stopping than a standard ABS because the car is meant to be driven hard on tracks and such, which can cause an occasional tire to lock up, but they don’t want to reduce braking power at 130mph on a track because that could be deadly.
Q: how come subaru wrx sti sound kinda like a v8?
how come they have such a unique sound?
A: THE ENGINE IS KNOWN AS A FLAT FOUR ITS GOT A SOUND OF ITS OWN,THE PISTONS MOVE OUTWARDS NOT UP AND DOWN
Q: is the subaru wrx sti a good first car?
is a 04 05 subaru wrx sti a good first car for a 17 year old kid who knows the basics for taken care of cars and has been driving with a permit for 7 months?
A: You will die. You do not have the maturity or the skill to drive one.
Q: 2008 Subaru WRX STI – Changing rpm settings on gear change indicator?
I’m breaking in a new 2008 WRX STI and left the manual at the dealer’s. I want to set the gear change indicator (light on dash and beep) to lower rpms during the break in period since it is way too easy to wind it up past the recommended 4000rpm for the first 1600 kms. Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks.
A: turn the knob to the right and let go, then do it again but this time hold it and watch the rpm needle move to where you want it, let go, one more turn will turn the beep on. the car must be in acc mode to do this.

Q: Difference between subaru wrx sti 2005 and 2007?
Hi im looking to buy a subaru wrx sti sedan and i have found two of interest. on is 2005 model with 44,000 miles for $19,000 and the other is an 07 with 24,000 miles on it. i am intending to race with my car, and i was wondering which deal is best and what the major differences are between the models. any help is much appreciated
A: Apart from the obvious cosmetic differences, there are a couple mechanical things. The 07 had a different turbo that flows the same amount so it makes the same power, it just has a slightly different exhaust housing design. The other difference is the transmission. Same bullet proof 6 speed but slightly different gearing. Basically the 07 gearing is desired by the people who like to drag race because you can finish the 1/4 mile in 4th gear where in the earlier ones you have to shift into 5th. For tracking though, the earlier ones may be better. There were some issues with the tune on 07’s that was causing ringlands to crack because of lean conditions. I would work out a compression check and maybe even a leak down test to make sure the pistons are not cracked if you decide to go with the 07.
Q: what is the differences between a subaru wrx sti and a subaru sti?
A: its the same car….. theres a wrx and a wrx sti, both the same motor, but the sti has different heads, a bigger top mount intercooler, and a different tune, along with a variable center differential
Q: do you think the subaru wrx sti is uglier than the evo x?
just in your opinion, which car do you think is better looking?
subaru impreza wrx sti or mitsubishi lancer evolution x
A: The new ones? I think they’re both terrible.
I like the previous generations far better, the Evo VIII and IX were the best, and the 06 STI was a gorgeous car.
Q: Why do kids love the Subaru WRX sti so much?
It seems like a lot of my friends really like the wrx but don’t really know any other cars, I expect that they like these cars for the same reasons I’d expect them to like cars such as ferraris, paganis, porsches, koenigseggs…cool looking and fast.
Why don’t these kids like anything else more there are soooo many cars I’d have before a wrx
A: They are awesome machines. And a lot more reasonably priced that the other cars you listed. A person doesn’t have to be a millionaire to own one.
Q: What kind of a budget do i need to afford a subaru wrx sti?
I’m making about 550 every 2 weeks right now
A: A new STI starts at $34,995. That’s not expensive, but not cheap either. Maintenance is inexpensive, and you’ll only use the gas and tires you choose with your right foot. The big question is insurance. If you’re a young male, even with a good driving record, the insurance companies will feast on you. Even young women will pay plenty. But, if you’re older and have a great driving record, you’ll only face perhaps twice what you’d pay for a normally aspirated car. Shop around, there are some insurers that aren’t total buzzards.
Your monthly payments will vary from $0 to maybe $550, depending on your down payment and your credit rating (controls the rate you can get). If you’re well qualified for the loan with, say, $ 4,000 down, have a great driving record, and are in your late 20s or older, you might get a monthly cost to own of around $700, excluding gas and maintenance. The more you put down, the lower this number goes. If your credit barely allows you to qualify and your driving record stinks, you could be looking at over $1,000 per month.
Q: Is this VIN number a 1996 Subaru Impreza WRX STi version 3?
VIN number 7A8GF090704050001
1996 Subaru Impreza WRX STi version 3?
I am from New Zealand. Different VINs from the US maybe
What is the difference between the Red Top STi and the silver top STi?
A: Nope.
Just an STI.
Q: What would be a better choice a Subaru WRX STI or a Honda Civic SI?
If I would get the sti I would just add an preformance exhaust and a cold air intake, or in the si i would get the same as the sti, plus turbo and pref ecu, intercooler, and other high prefonmance mods. So which is a better choice to go with
A: I’VE OWNED TWO ACURA GS-R’S AND A RSX AND A CIVIC SI. IF YOU OWNED HONDA AND ARE USE TO HONDA OVERALL REFINEMENT THE SUBARU IS GOING TO LOOK A LITTLE ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES. THERE NO DENYING THAT THE SUBARU HAS GREAT POWER AND DRIVE TRAIN BUT THE ONE I DROVE HAD A SHIFTER FROM HELL AND THE LOOKS WERE NOT MY TASTE. THE UPKEEP ON SUBARU IS GOING TO BE MORE ALSO. THE INSURANCE ON THE CIVIC IS GOING TO BE HIGH. I PERFER REFINEMENT OVER JUST PERFORMANCE OVER THE LONG RUN. YOU WANT TO ALSO LOOK AT A MAZDASPEED. THE SUBARU AND THE CIVIC REALLY ARE TWO DIFFERENT VEHICLES.
Q: are Subaru impreza wrx sti rally cars faster than a stock Subaru impreza wrx sti?
If the rally subaru impreza wrx sti is faster than the stock subaru impreza wrx sti, then how much faster is the rally Subaru.
A: If by faster you mean top speed, the answer is emphatically no. Group-N Rally cars have a top speed around 120mph, limited by the gearing. If you want to know which one is quicker accelerating, then no question it’s the WRC car. A Group-N spec WRX is about 2700lbs, a stock STi is over 3300. The Group-N car is about 300hp and about 450ft-lb. A stock STi is 300/300. The STi has a conventional manual so it has slow shifts, the WRC car has a sequential gearbox that is worth more than a brand new STi, and has some of the quickest gear changes of all automotive transmissions. The WRC car, finally, is geared for the best acceleration up to 120-ish MPH, with no regard for fuel economy. The STi has taller gears for fuel economy and the ability to cruise on highways at sane RPMs.
