Q: Where can I get a cheaper Honda Odyssey 2003 GPS Disk?
I have a Honda Odyssey 2003 with a built-in GPS. I want to upgrade to a newer disk (the one I have in it is from 2003) but don’t want to dole out $185 for a 2010 disk. Is their anyplace that I can get a newer disk (i.e. 2007 or 2008) that is under $50? And no I don’t want to Bit-Torrent it.

Q: What is wrong with heating in my 2001 Honda Odyssey?
Heating in my Honda doesn’t work right. It blows almost cold air. I checked the hose that brings coolant to the heater core and hose the takes coolant out of heater core, and they are both hot. Does that mean that heater core is not good? Any suggestions? And how difficult is to replace it, because I can not afford to take it to the mechanic. I appreciate any suggestion!
A: you don’t mention what model your Odyssey is. there are different possibilities depending on whether the car is an LX or an EX. the LX has manual air conditioning, the EX has semi-automatic.
if the car is an LX, first thing to do is to check the temperature knob. pull the knob off and see if the part of the knob that goes on the shaft is cracked or broken. more often than not the problem is that the knob is turning but the temperature control is not so you won’t get any heat.
second thing to check is to see if the drain tube for the evaporator case is clogged. when the defrosters are run you actually run the air conditioner as a dehumidifier. when that happens condensation forms around the condensor. if the condensation (water) can’t get out then the heater core gets submerged in water and the heat is transferred to the water rather than to the incoming air. you can usually get the drain tube cleaned out by having someone blow compressed air into the tube.
those are the two main causes if you have hot water in the hoses to the core.
I think you’re going to find the temperature knob is broken.
if the car has semi-automatic air conditioning then the problem would be with a blend door actuator provided the drain tube is clear.

A: some cars have the button but they don’t equip with them. IF you don’t see the input hole anywhere most likely you don’t have it and you’ll need to buy the adapter. Look in your owners manual or call the dealership if they could help you.

Q: Is it possible to swap the XM brain for Sirius in my 2007 Honda Odyssey?
I have seen similar ads for GM vehicles that allow you swap the “brain” of your receiver from XM to Sirius, but I haven’t seen anything for my 2007 Honday Odyssey.

Is a 2-ton ‘floor’ jack and 2 ton jack stands good enough to lift and hold my 96 Monte Carlo & 04 Honda Odyssey? I am changing brake pads and rotors (I found a buddy to help).
For future, are jack stands safe enough to work under a car (I would only be doing oil changes)?

A: that van has 5 mounts,good news is that you probably only need 2 replaced maybe a third,bad new is the two that probably need replacing are the expensive ones,the front lower mount down by the bottom of the rad is a vacuum operated hydraulic mount the other one is at the rear of the engine,lower,directly opposite of the front lower one,the possible third one is the upper one by the power steering pump,the best way to know if the mount mount is broken,is when at a full stop you blip the throttle moderately and feel for a clunk ,then ave someone watch with one foot on the brake while in drive,with the other foot blip the throttle see if engine rocks excessively,the front & rear lower mounts are broken ,i lower the sub frame and replace the mounts,you must support the engine assembly,the front lower mount once removed,if you turn it over you will see oil drip out of it,the rear one will be torn,that probably your problem,while the subframe is lowered you might want to replace the swaybar insulators as you probably feel a lite clunck while going over bumps,the are easy to replace with the subframe lowered,good luck its alot of work for at home
Q: What are the pros and cons of Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey .?
We are looking for a minivan for handicapped, the Toyota Sienna LE and XLE and Honda Odyssey Ex and Exl for 2009, 2008. Would love a new 2010 or 2011 but they are too expensive. what do you like about yours, if you own one, or have owned one. What don’t you like, etc.

Never had any problems, and its been used by a bad driving wife!
It has 2 automatic opening and closing doors. And handles on the side so people with broken legs can climb up.
I have put my mother, 80 years old and basically paralyzed and on a wheelchair in this van with ease.
Lots of room in the captain seats. and even the rear seats.
All the chairs fold down neatly, the captain chairs fold down half way.
It becomes as big as the bed of a Tacoma pickup truck, but inside the van!

Get the Sienna. The oddesy was beat back since 2004 with this new sienna, I dunno about the new Odyssey, but if you saw the roads a few years ago and now, you see more sienna’s.

Q: Resetting 2001 Honda Odyssey after crash?
Recently was in an accident my 2001 Honda Odyssey van. Upon collision the van imedately turned off completely powered down. Some one mentioned to me about a kill switch for the odyssey which makes the car shut off and lock to prevent fire or further damage. If any one knows about this please reply and tell me how to restore power and fuel flow back to my van.

A: Don – Is the exclamation point in a horseshoe/ U shaped figure?? That is the TPMS saying your tire pressure is low. If the exclamation point is in a triangle the VSA button is off.
From your explanation, it’s the TPMS… just add some air to your tires.
Q: Is the Honda Odyssey climate control screen supposed to light up at night with the headlights on?
The lcd screen that shows airflow position, temperature #, a/c on/off. This screen does not light up at night and I have no idea what the settings are at unless I turn on the dome light. Is this supposed to Illuminate similar to that of the radio lcd screen?
A: Yeah, it’s supposed to be lit. You might have to go to Honda to get it fixed, the LCD screen itself might be broken. The same problem happen with my ‘03 Accord (the radio and temperature LCD when out) and they had to replace the whole radio (it costs $1k, but I was covered). I don’t think it’s as serious as my problem, but definitely give Honda a call.
P.S. That’s the most annoying thing, not being able to see the screen at night.

A: If I remember correctly the clock should be right next to the emergency flasher switch and if so then all you need to do is use a flat blade screwdriver and gently pop out the clock.
Its just held in place by small side tabs on both sides and once its out just go out and buy a new bulb.
Q: Honda odyssey 2002: how difficult to change power steering pump belt?
My Odyssey needs a new power steering pump belt. There is a motor mount in the center of the transverse v6 and this belt goes right around it – so it looks like replacing this belt requires lifting the motor to get the belt around this mount, is that right?
Anyone with an estimate to do the work?
A: Depends were u go. I have seen from .5 to 2.0 hours of labor. I think 1.0 is good. You have to loose the p/s pump and remove that engine mount u don’t need to lift the engine. removed the other belt for a/c and alternator don’t remove any bolts for this one just release pressure from tensioner. replace p/s belt and reinstalled everything the same way it was.
