Looking for more information about the Toyota Tacoma Check out the top automotive resource: MachineSpider.com

Q: How difficult is it to remove the pickup bed on a Toyota Tacoma?
what is required to perform this, and will the gas tank fill tube stand alone?
92 Excab 22RE
I am removing the bed to customize it and I want to lighten the load to save gas. The truck aspect is no longer so important as the customizing possibilities and the handling for hill climbing races.

A: I ‘m not sure about the gas tube you might have to make a simple brace. as far as the bed goes taking it off is pretty easy. just disconnect all the wiring, lights etc. and there are 6 or 8 bolts holding it on, remove the bolts and two men can just pick it up and move it.

Q: How do I replace the emergency brake cable to my 1998 Toyota tacoma truck?
The cable snapped at the end of the emergengy brake release rod. I can not figure out how to remove the old cable anchor and attach the new one. The rest is easy enough to do, I just don’t have any experience with this part of the repair. Thanks in advance for any help.

A: Can you say, “pain in the neck?” Look under the dash at the parking brake lever. Follow it toward the firewall until you find where a small silver lever contacts the e-brake light switch. (It will be on the brake pedal side. You have to remove that pin, which is pressed into place. With it removed, the lever will slide through and you can disengage/reingage the cable. That pin has ridges on it, so don’t twist it or it will break off! (Gee, I wonder how I know that! ) I usually remove the handle assembly. Not fun, for sure!

Hope this helps! God Bless!

Q: Can I put a 2004 Scion XB stock radio in a ‘99 Toyota Tacoma?
My friend gave me a stock Scion XB stereo system (CD player, AM/FM, XM radio, etc), I was wondering if I would be able to put it in my ‘99 Tacoma. All I have in there now is a tape player and a radio. Scion is a branch off of Toyota…so maybe it might?

A: yes all the plugs are the same but the radio is not the same size

Q: How is the radio speakers wiring run in toyota tacoma regular cab?
I have no rear speakers even tho the radio has capability for it,so i wish to add a set and was wondering if a set of wires were already run from factory.
This is a 2007 model, are the speaker wires for the rear speakers run even tho there are no speakers installed ?The radio has rear speaker capibility on the controls.

A: You do not say what year Tacoma you are dealing with so it’s not possible to provide a more specific response. Some earlier models required installation of new wires. I’d recommend that you browse the “yotatech” forums and perhaps search for your specific vehicle to see what other folks have done in the same situation. In my case (pre-Tacoma extended cab truck), I just ran new wires on both sides under the door trim and brought it out where the speakers were to be mounted (6X9’s mounted onto the cubby door).

Try this one:

http://www.yotatech.com/

Q: How to reset the ECU for a 1998 Toyota Tacoma?
Check engine light came on… Took to auto-parts store for a diagnostics test. Upper oxygen sensor is gone. Read online that we try this because at least 1 sensor was replaced 2 years ago.

A: disconnect one of the battery terminals, wait for a few minutes. reconnect the terminal. that will reset the ECU

however, i dont think resetting the ECU will remove the trouble code. you have to use a OBD II reader like the one the auto parts store is using to clear the code

Also, the trouble code should tell you if it is the O2 sensor before or after the cat that threw the code. if it isn’t the one you replaced, then there is a good chance the part is in fact bad and needs to be replaced

Q: What size tires and rims can I put on a stock 08′ Toyota Tacoma 4×4 Double Cab Short Bed?
I’m not planning on lifting or lowering it. I don’t really want that much wider tires right now than the stock ones I have (I don’t know the size). But I do want larger rims and tires for sure. Please any advice on where to get them from for quality and price and what my options are.

Thanks.

A: dont forget if your tires are larger in circumference then your original tires the spedo will show you are going slower then you really are and the cops might get you for that.

get some bigger rims like you want but get a tire with the same circumference so you dont have spedo issues, unless you have it re calibrated then bigger tires will be fine. you might loose a few mpg with bigger tires too.

good luck

Q: How will a 2001 2wd toyota tacoma do off road or in the snow?
im planning on getting one and i go to the motocross track pretty often, and would it be able to haul two 250sxf dirtbike pretty easy. Also in the winter i snowboard a lot and there are some pretty steep hills around where i go, do you think it would be ok on that type of terrain?

A: It will be just fine as long as you don’t try to get too crazy with it and YOU learn how to drive it in those conditions.

In bad conditions the Driver is more important than the Car. Make a mistake (like stopping on a Hill in the snow) and no Car/Truck will save you.

Good luck!

Q: How do you replace a tail light assembly on a 2007 toyota tacoma?
It just seems awkward and I don’t want to do more harm than good or unnecessary work. I could buy the maual but then I could just get a shop to install it for the price of a Hayne’s manual.
So I do not have a Dodge. There are more than 2 bolts. I will just pay a labor fee

A: its a little harder to tell you with out seeing it, but use common sense. tail lights are tough, they are meant to last through any conditions….just remember to not touch the new bulb.

Generally you will need a socket wrench and after un doing the bolts, kinda wiggle out the tail light. but be careful not to yank it too far.

Q: Is a 2002 Nissan Frontier bigger than a 2002 Toyota Tacoma?
Both Dbl. cabs. I wanted a Tacoma but found a frontier, they look about the same to me, anyone know for real?

A: Basically about the same. The Frontier will be cheaper to buy, and ain’t a damn thing wrong with them. All things being relative though, you’ll get less when you sell or trade it in.

Q: I need to purchase a Toyota Tacoma cheaply?
I live in Houston and would like to purchase a new Toyota Tacoma for cash at the best price possible. Thank You

A: ME TOO!!!!

Q: What style boxes can you get to fit into an extended cab toyota tacoma? Looking for biggest subs with best fit?
I want the boxes to house the biggest possible subs in the best possible spot in my truck but i do want to be able to get some bump out of the subs as well! Please HELP!

A: Have a look here and see if you find something you like.

http://www.supercrewsound.com/commerce/catalog.jsp?catId=69

Q: How to disable day running lights on a 2011 Toyota Tacoma?
I need to keep the turn signals active so I can’t just unplug the bulb.

A: 2clicks on the emergency brake pedal will do it.

Q: How to take the dash of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma out?
I am trying to install an FM Direct Adapter for my Sirius Sportster. I need to get to the back of my radio in my truck. Does anyone know how to properly take the dash off so I can have access to the back of my radio?

Thanks.

A: unbolt it. well you should have a few trim pieces to remove and your radio will be bolted right up. it should be easily removed without having to pull your entire dash.

Q: How can a Maybach 62 S have 604 hp and get 21 mpg, and a Toyota Tacoma has 159 hp and gets 21 mpg?
Are politicians in Toyota’s pocket like they are with the Insurance Companies?

A: The horsepower is a peak rating and the mpg is peak rating and were not calculated at the same time. There is no way possible that the Maybach 62s (whatever that is) gets 21mpg WHILE making 604hp. It would more likely get 2-5mpg at an output of 600+ HP. Like wise with the 159 hp Tacoma. It does not get 21mpg while producing 159hp. On the hiway at 50-65mph (cruise speed) when the MPG is calculated, the tacoma is producing much less than 100hp.

Q: 1996 toyota tacoma differential. I was wondering if any of the other toyotas have the same differential?
I am looking to see if i can use a differential of another vehicle without doing much converting. And this is a 2wd tacoma single cab

A: yes

Q: Ford Mustang Convertible hing covers for little fingers?
So I am looking into getting a 2010 Ford Mustang convertible. However the hinges for the convertible are a concern because of my daughter fingers. I was wondering if they make covers for the open hinges?

A: Yes, there is a “boot” available that will cover all the hardware/mechanics of the convertible top while it is in the down position.

When not in use it folds up and has an envelope package for storage in the trunk

Q: is there a plug for a zune in a 2006 ford mustang?
i was looking in my boyfriends car and he has a mazda and his plug is on the face of the radio plate.. but im wondering if a ‘06 ford mustang does? and if so where would it be? otherwise how would i be able to plug it into the car?

A: Ford mustang auxiliary audio input ,you need to plug this interface in the back of the radio
so you can use the AUX button

http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-192-86-pie-frd04-aux-ford-2004-2008-auxiliary-input-adapter.aspx

Q: I need someone who REALLY knows the Ford Mustang Engine?
I have a 2001 Ford Mustang. It is a V6 3.8L automatic. The only problem is… I CANT GET IT TO PASS EMISSIONS!!!! When the slip printed out, the OBD code was P1131, i think, and when i asked a mechanic, he said it was an airflow/O2 sensor. I dont know how to fix it or how much it will cost but its making me very upset that it wont pass. Plus, my check fuel cap light is on. I just bought a brand new one and the light didnt go out. Someone help, PLEASE?

P1131 HO2S 11 Indicates Lean (Ford, Mazda)

BASICALLY , YOU HAVE A BAD OXYGEN SENSOR
SOMETIMES IT TAKES A COUPLE DAYS FOR THE CAP LIGHT TO GO OUT ,

Q: Where can i find a 2000-2004 ford mustang for $5,000 dollars or less in Kansas city,mo?
Im am trying to find a ford mustang but i have no luck of geting one for $5,000 or less

A: Hi, on this site you can put down the type of car you want and all the personal details of the car. they will match you with the perfect car.

http://autoferret.com/requests.php?said=3132

Q: Where to find a Ford Mustang Key Ring near Long Beach?
Any ideas where to find it? I’d perfer not to get it online because it’s cheap and the shipping cost makes it not so cheap.
I’ve tried – Pepboys, Ford dealership, Mustang Country (Lakewood) & Classic Auto Supply (Pico Riveria).

I think they have them at the kiokos in the mall but I’d rather have an idea before I go on any more wild goose chases.

A: I can’t believe the places you went to, didn’t have them. I’ve seen them in Home Depots and Lowes, where they make the keys. Leave no stone unturned. Good Luck!

Q: To install the XMODS Ford Mustang body, do I need to buy the front body mount?
I was thinking of buying an XMODS Nissan GTR starter kit. To install the XMODS Ford Mustang body, do I need to buy the front body mount? I dont want to buy the front body mount if I dont need it.

A: what kind of vehicle are u putting it on? nissan or mustang
let me know

matt

Q: Red button under the dash of an 04 Ford Mustang?
My roomate has an 04 Ford Mustang and found a small red button under the dash… He has been dying to push it but im kinda scared as to what is going to happen…

Anyone know what that button is for?

A: CAR HAD OR HAS AN AFTER MAEKET ALARM SYSTEM WITH CUT OFF THIS IS THE OVER DIDE SWITCH AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN AT ALL

Q: On a 1995 ford mustang is it hard or easy to replace a burned out front light?
On some cars it’s really difficult because you need a special machine to lift up the thing covering the light, does anyone know if it’s that hard with a car such as the ford mustang, it’s a 1995

A: Real easy you dont replace the head light you replace the bulb. Just lift the hood and you will see the wires go into the headlight housing. At the end of the wire there will be a little plastic bracket that you can put your thumb and forefinger on just twist it out righty tighty lefty loosey!

Q: How do i get my 2001 ford mustang’s radio to work again?
I recently left my lights on to my 2001 ford mustang. After i jump started the car i realized the radio did not work. it would not even turn on. i lost the owners manuel and i am looking for any possible solution to fixing this problem

A: YOU MAY HAVE SHORTED IT OUT YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING A AFTER MARKET RADIO CAUSE THE DEALER WILL KILL YOUR POCKETS GETTING THE STOCK RADIO AND IF ALL FAILS CHECK YOUR RADIO FUSE CHECK TO SEE IF ITS BURNT AND IF SO CHANGE IT AND TRY TURNING ON YOUR RADIO

Q: Help with 1998 Ford Mustang Headlight troubleshooting / problem?
I have a 1998 ford mustang and the headlights have recently gone out. I saw them flickering when I went around a corner last week and then they worked fine after the turn, but now however they don’t. Here are some more details…
-When i pull the headlight switch, both front parking lights (ambers) come on as well as the rear taillights.
-The Brights seem to work when I pull backwards on the turn signals (is that called flash to pass?) But do not work when I click it forward (so you don’t have to hold it down)
-I have checked some fuses but not sure if I checked the right ones.
-I have inspected the connections to the light housing to some degree and see no obvious problems.
-The turn I mentioned earlier did use the turn signal if that affects at all.

A: When you open the hood you will see a small green bolt just above each headlight. This is a ground point. Check to be sure these are tight. If they are, you most likely need a new multifunction switch (headlight, turn signal, high beam all-in-one). Cost at the dealer is around $150.00. Usually have it in stock. They go bad quite often. Very easy to install. Pull 3 screws from plastic steering column cover, tilt wheel completely down and unscrew tilt handle. Remove lower cover and raise upper cover. You will see 2 torques head screws holding the switch on. remove them and unplug 2 wire connectors. Replace in reverse sequence. Also check the wire connectors to make sure the retainer clips are not broken.

Q: What is the best looking ford mustang out there right now that is $20,000 to $35,000 ???
If you can please give me some mustangs that wont give me a heart failure at the gas station……thnxxxx also tell me the best looking ford mustang under $20,000.

A: All you will get for under 20 is a New V-6 Mustang, or a Good used GT. They aren’t that bad on Gas. The Base GT’s with no performance upgrades are designed to run on Regular Gas. I own a 2004 Mach 1.

Q: Camshaft position located at on a 1994 ford Mustang?
Where is the camshaft position located at on a 1994 Ford Mustang V-6 3.8?

A: On top of the timing cover. Hope this helps.

Q: Should I take 97′ Ford Explorer or the 01 Mustang Convertible?
I am moving to the mountains of North Carolina for school and have the option of taking my current 2001 Ford Mustang convertible or taking my older 97′ Ford Explorer.

I am not sure which to choose. Both get near the same gas mileage and really aren’t the ideal cars for snow. The explorer has more space but the mustang is easier to drive and park. What do you think?

A: take the Mustang, it’s not that hard to drive in the snow, Just as long as you know how to handle it

Good luck!

Q: How much would every month/6months/year if I where to get a 2000 ford mustang v8 on my insurance ( I’m 17 )?
Im 17 and I just bought a 2000 v8 ford mustang and I’m bought together allstate this us going to be my first time but I just wanted to hear from some people how much is it going to cost??? Can someone let me know

A: Dude, too man variables, just call and get a free rate quote. ( said like the geico )

I am 26 and drive a 03 mustang gt with a perfect driving record in the state of Florida and I pay $900 every 6 months.

But like I said, just call to like 3-5 different places and get some quotes!

Q: I have a 1981 Ford Mustang. What is wrong with my gas guage ?
I have a 1981 Ford Mustang. When i fill it up, the dial goes pass the Full dial and then rest at the end of the guage. After about 40 miles it then reaches the F in the guage. Then at about 100 miles it reaches the 1/2 mark. Then at the end when it is at E it reads as 144 miles on the E with the fuel light. Is the guage reading wrong or not calibrated in which i have more fuel than i think i have. The distribution of the 144 miles is not even.

A: Most older vehicles have fuel sending units that are not the most accurate units. Your gauge is acting normal. There is no easy way to calibrate these sending units as often the float is unable to reach the maximum level of the tank. But normally all most people need to know is roughly how long till you run out of fuel.

Q: What is the top speed of a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro?
I need to do a science assignment on road science basically, and I found the safety features but I can’t find the top speed! Please help!
the 1ss model.

A: The top speed can vary depending whether you have a governing switch on the motor or not. I do know the Camaro goes 0-60 in about 4.8 seconds. I hope this information helps a little. Good luck on your assignment.

Q: On a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro with the small v6 3.4 does this car uses a PCV valve or just a elbow?
I have this question because I have been running the car with no pcv valve or nothing to redirect the blow by gasses, and some people had told me that if you run your car with no PCV valve you may not get the best fuel economy that the car is able to get. But the main question is if I should put a PCV valve or just a elbow on the valve cover.

A: the car came from the factory with a PCV valve, go get one and install it.

Q: What can I do if the right side of the unibody on my 1974 Chevrolet Camaro is rusted out ?
Replace? Repair? Where can I get the parts?

A: The best thing to do would be to replace any rusted structural parts. It can be done, but it will be very expensive. Since the unibody provides the structural integrity for your car, you need someone trained in body repair and welding to to this repair. This is NOT a DIY job.

The best place to get parts will be at http://www.classicindustries.com/ but a google search should bring up many other places.

Q: How much would car insurance cost for a 16 year old driving a new Chevrolet Camaro?

A: probably as much as your car loan: no trust whatsoever.

Q: Are the parts of a 1974 and a 1981 Chevrolet Camaro interchangeable?
If so which parts are, which parts are not and which years are also interchangeable
What about the unibody and the roof

A: oh sure.

Q: How much will a 94 Chevrolet Camaro’s value increase over the years?

A: Zero.

Not until the car is at least 20 years old can you even begin to consider it a classic or a vintage collectible car. And even at that the car needs to be something special to be collectible. It needs to be factory stock, it needs to be in showroom condition and it needs to be a special edition or have some rarity to it to be considered collectible. They built way to many of them for just another high production numbers off the assembly line car to be valuable.

Q: In my local area there is a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 selling for $9,900. What do I need to look for on it?
I have already looked at and it appears to be very good condition. I even test drived and it handle pretty well. I am new to buying classics, so what do I need to look for specificly? Later I will be taking pictures if that would help. I just want to make sure this car doesnt sound to good to be true for such a price. Any advice would help.

A: Mate if you’re going to be buying a 35 year old car have a mechanic check over it….
Rust is an obvious one, check EVERYWHERE. Personally I’d rather an old car with a great body, than great mechanics. The mechanical side of things can be fixed easier lol.

Q: I have a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro RS i want to upgrade it to a Z28. Can I put a LT1 engine in it?
And if I can… Do i go to get any other components like a drive-shaft or anything of that sort.

A: It does all depend on how much money you have. If you don’t have that much cash, by all means, do the LT1 swap out of a wrecked Z28. You’ll need to stay with 96 and up for OBDII compliance. You’ll need the engine, harness and PCM. Best to swap over the engine/trans combination. This is actually easy – if your wrecked donor car is good from the firewall on up, you can pull the entire k-member, engine, accessories and all, and bolt it up into your car – infinitely easier than trying to lift the engine out of the nose!

If you have more cash, then get the LS-engine/trans/PCM combination out of a later Camaro, and swap it in. The swap kits for the LS engines are freely available now – the expense here comes from the additional parts to integrate into your car.

Additional parts should include the trans – I don’t know if your existing trans has the rated parts for the extra torque.

Q: what is the type of engine in my ‘92 chevrolet camaro rs?
i have a 6 cylinder engine. is it fuel injected? or carburetor? im pretty sure its fuel injected throttle body.
how can i find out if it’s throttle body injection, or multi point injection?

A: Aaron there is only one 6cyl engine used in the 1992 camaro. The engine code for this engine is LHO. This 3.1 liter V-6 puts out 140 hp and 180 lbs of engine torque. The fuel system used on this 3.1 liter is the MFI fuel system. (Multi Port Fuel Injection) Please use the link posted for tons of specs and info on your 1992 camaro.Best of luck. http://www.camarosource.ca/main_new_site.php?url=open_new_layout.htm

Q: Where can I find a wiring harness diagram for a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro?

A: Love it when we ladies do our own repairs. You rock girl. Here:

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=wiring+diagrams+chevrolet+camaro&fr=ush-ans

Q: On a Third Generation Chevrolet Camaro, what is the part under the Front Bumper called?
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3448/frontbumper.jpg

On that picture, what is the name of the part that is outlined in red?

A: Air dam
Chin spoiler

Q: 1996 pontiac trans am tranny into a 1994 chevrolet camaro?
Would a 1996 pontiac trans am transmission fit into a 1994 chevrolet camaro z28?

A: In 1996, any vehicle sold in the US went to OBD 2 and the wiring doubled from 1995 to 1996. I do not think the tranny in a 1996 trans am will work properly even if it did fit. I would look for a 1994 to 1995 camaro transmission.

Q: is a 1969 chevrolet camaro a bad first car?
why and why not???
would it be a bad choice of a car for a teenage girl about 15 or 16 to drive when she first gets her lisence and has her permit??
would a 1980 ford F 350 truck be better as a first car?

A: NO ITS A CLASSIC CAR

Q: Chevrolet Camaro?
I live in Croatia (Europe) and i really really really want that car!!
can someone tell me were i can buy it because we don’t have it here?? are there any in Europe anyway?
how much does it cost and how much it would cost me if i buy it in america and then ship it over here??
tnx

A: Are you talking about the “concept Camaro” in the movie “Transformers”? If so, it’s not yet been released in the US either. The estimated costs here when it comes out are around $22-28k for the V6 coupe, $32-40k for the RS or Z-28 coupe (they haven’t decided which model to produce yet, but no SS for the first year) and up to $45k for a loaded convertible RS or Z.
I would estimate by the time you paid tariffs and customs fees in addition to the shipping costs, you’re looking at $15k or more just to get it over to you….that’s if it’s even legal transport based on trading laws to your country, emissions, fuel consumption, etc. IF any are to be shipped to Europe, I’d check locales such as London or Paris, and possibly around the Autobahn in Germany….vehicular cosmopolitan hubs which would be likely to import exotic novelties from the US such as this. However, be expecting to pay a premium. I’d say roughly 3-5x actual cost.
The Concept Camaro is due for release in the US in September of ‘08 for the ‘09 model year. However, if you can find means to ship it, with a substantial downpayment, I would think that people can start ordering a car made to their specifications by summer of ‘08 to be delivered in September. The Camaro is actually being made in Canada, by General Motors, by the way, so you may be able to do importation through Canadian officials instead of the US – it may be easier. Also, if you get a Canadian car, the various fluid units and also your gauges will be in metric measurements instead of English. Hope this helps….I’m dying waiting for them to be released, too!
For more info, go to www.gm.com or www.chevy.com

Q: How much would insurance cost on a 96 Chevrolet camaro?
Monthly? I spotted a camaro for the first time and it was completely gorgeous, I almost cried. it also runs good. The cost is pretty crazy for a camaro only 2,000. My mom said that I could not get it because the insurance is high I asked her how high and she said about 3,000 a month also I’m 16. I get the feeling she is wrong how much would you say insurance on a 96 camaro would cost?

A: Impossible to answer on here… only way to find out is call around to the different insurance agencies and see what rates would be for your age group. Call GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, etc… all the major players. All are going to vary.

Many, many variables to consider:

1) Age of driver (which WILL go against you, no matter what you drive)
2) Repair cost of vehicle
3) Classification of vehicle (Camaros are sports cars, no matter the age)
4) Location of driver/vehicle

Nobody on here will be even able to quote you a ballpark figure.

Q: Is a Toyota 4Runner better than a Ford Explorer for a first car?
I’m looking at first cars and I’m looking at:
2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited V6 with Nav, Leather, Sunroof with 86,000 miles for $13,900
or a
2003 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V6 with Leather,Sunroof with 76,000 miles for $11,980
Neither have a third row seat but I really like the Explorer but wouldn’t mind a 4Runner because they are nice. Any opinions?

A: Toyota. I had a Rav4 and it was the best car I’ve ever owned.

There is a reason Explorer’s are also known as Exploder’s. lol. We actually used to have one…Eddie Bauer editions as well. It was on the fritz constantly.

Q: Where can I get a free pdf downloadable 2004 Ford Explorer repair manual?
I need to fix or replace my air conditioning unit on my 2004 Ford Explorer because the clutch does not work.

A: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/results.asp

You can get the owner’s manual in English or Spanish.

Another source:

http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdirs/retail/default.asp?pageid=&gutsid=

Click on “Owner’s Manuals”

Q: What are the dimensions of a Ford Explorer Sport Trac Truck subwoofer enclosure ?
I’m looking for the dimensions of a subwoofer box for Ford Explorer Sport Trac’s because I have built custom boxes and want to build these instead of spending an ass load for one box.

A: I would need to know the year. It has changed a bit recently. Go to links for custom trucks with the year you are looking at.

Of course it is much less expensive to build your own, providing you know how to build speaker enclosures.

Q: How do you replace a 97 Ford Explorer door handle?
How do you replace a 97 Ford Explorer inside door handle? Do you need to take off the panel I need to do the front and back drivers side. Any advice would be appreciated Thanks for any help. I can’t find any sites on the web….

A: Yes, you’ll have to take off the door panels to get to the hardware, and linkage/cables to take the door handle parts off.

Q: where can i get a custom chrome engine dress up for my 98 ford explorer xlt?
i have a 1998 ford explorer with a 4.0 efi v-6 and im trying to find a chrome engine dress up for it. does anybody know were i get order a kit.

A: why do u even need this on a explorer???

bro u just have money to spend dont you?

well try searching ebay

Q: How can i make my V6 ford explorer sound a little more “meaty” ?
I have a ‘97 limited edition ford explorer with a sohc v6, is there any ways to make it sound a little meaner without getting a new exhaust system? If not, what is the cheapest exhaust i can buy? ( im only 16 and dont have too much money to throw around )

A: glass pipe,,change the exhaust

Q: Where can I run wires through the firewall in a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport?
I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport (Not the Sport Trac just the regular Explorer.) I am wanting to hook up a amp and have to run wires from the battery to the amp located in the back. I am having trouble finding a hole in which wires already run through and into the engine. Is there anywhere I can run wires from my amp to the battery through an existing hole in the firewall?

A: What i did was (on a ford mustang) ran it through the front quarter panel, and then ran it underneath the body panels. A lot easier, and no holes has to be cut. But i was using some 1000+ watt amp wires. So the wire was like 1/4-1/2″ thick. I think doing what I did would work best. There usually are several holes that lead from the engine compartment to the doors, and then run it under the trim to the amp.

Q: What are my options to connect my ipod to my ford explorer?
I have a 2004 ford explorer and i wanted to know how i can have my ipod directly connected to my car’s cd player without and fm transmitters or modulators

A: Get the kit from this web site or a store near you

http://www.shoppingcentre.net/shop/ipod-transmitter-es2008-p-3488.html?gclid=CN36mJzC5o8CFQyVMAodnmGKXw

Q: Does anyone know how much it costs to fix the electronic four wheel drive on a 1993 Ford Explorer?
I have a 1993 Ford Explorer with push button four wheel drive. When you push the button nothing happens. I am not a mechanic so I would like a ball park of how much I would have to pay to get it fixed.

A: its probably the actuator which doesnt cost that much, but I would check your fuses first

Q: Can I switch the ignition switch instead of buying new keys from the dealer for a 98 Ford Explorer?
I just helped my mom repo a 98 ford explorer. We couldn’t get the one and only key back from the buyer. If i go to the dealer I have to buy 2 keys and have them both programmed. Can i just replace the ignition? Or is the key based anti theft tied into the computer?

A: It will take 2 new keys, and the dealer must program them. The upside is, at that time they will delete any other keys that are currently programmed, so it can’t be re-repoed by the last key holder.

Q: Where can i get rims and tires for my 2001 ford explorer?
Hi, I want to get black 15 or 16 inch rims for my 2001 ford explorer. I would like to get the tire package with the rims maybe like 30″ or 31″ tires. Is there anywhere on the web i can get what i want? Please don’t give sites that just sell 18+ size rims because that’s just not really what im in too. Thanks ahead of time!

A: Try wheelmax.com they have good prices and they deliver the tire mounted on the rim right to your house. They even have the tire balanced already. All you have to do is put it on and look good.

Q: Which is the best year Ford Explorer to get?
I was looking to buy a Ford Explorer because I really like them.
But I was wondering which year explorer was the best choice for overall performance? And is decent on gas?
Thanks!
I was looking at something a little cheaper:)
I’m a high school student. Like under $5000.

A: get a 97 and up with the 4.0 sohc, it has good gas mileage and almost the same power as the v8..

Q: What is the best tire for a Ford Explorer 4 wheel drive size 235/75/15?
Im looking for new tires for a 96 Ford Explorer 4×4. Size 235/75/15. Don’t really need off road tires. Mostly city and highway and occasional camping, but no towing. It currently has Goodyear Wrangler Radials.

A: wranglers are good. stay with that.

Q: What years/models did the Ford Explorer get nicknamed exploder?
I’m buying a 1994 Ford Explorer, 4 door. I’m a little paranoid, so, can someone tell me what years/models the Ford Exploreres were “exploders”?

A: In 1994 they had a reputation to roll over easy because of the extra 600 pounds added and higher ground clearance but most of the time it was because unsafe driving. Then came the exploding Firestone tires, here Firestone and ford blamed eachother. But it was Firestone that had defective tires, the tires exploded or caught fire. Ford also had explorer’s with goodyear tires and nothing happen with them. If this explorer doesn’t have Firestone tires, and everthing is in good condition then you should be alright. – try taking it to get checked by a mechanic before you buy it.

Q: How to conncet my ipod to my ford explorer?
I have an ipod classic 30gb I really woul like to listen to it through my cars stereo!! It is a ford explorer 2003

A: http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCarPlay-Wireless-Transmitter-Charger/dp/B000H72MMU

Connects to the cigarette lighter and transmits your iPod music via FM signal. Tune your radio station to the corresponding station and voila, iPod in the car.

This is the cable I’ve been using, works great for me… Also charges your iPod at the same time.

Q: what kind of engine can i install in my Toyota mr2?
my car.. a 1987 toyota mr2 its red, i was just wondering what kind of engine i could install in it.

A: You could install a 3S-GTE Turbo engine in your MR2.

Q: Toyota mr2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Has 300,000 miles. How long will it last before it starts to break down.

A: It will go any day now.

Q: Where can I get a rear window for my Toyota MR2?
The toyota on my 1986 Toyota MR2 is broken and needs to be replaced, where can i get a replacement without having to take it to a mechanic or repair service?

A: umm call around to the junk yards or you can check out mr2oc.com and see if any one is trying to part out there car. if not your going to have to go to the dealer and end up paying a arm and a leg to get it

Q: Where can I find a Toyota MR2 1990-1999 for sale?
I am looking a for a Toyota MR2 1990-1999 for sale that isn’t to much. Anywhere from $0 to $2000 is fine. And I am not looking for a convertible. I have looked everywhere and I can’t find one in California at all! Does anyone know where one of those cars can be? It can be anywhere in California for around that price. Thanks!

A: craigslist.com

Q: Is a 1991 Toyota MR2 a good car for how old it is?
I found an Mr2 for $3,800 with 198,000 miles on it. It says it has power steering, Windows, Door Locks, and Mirrors. I would like to find out how many more miles the car lives and if it is a good price. Just because it is a Toyota it is possible that it can die soon. I want experts to tell me generally at how many miles is thier breaking point

A: You just can’t go wrong with Toyota!!! I would check the Kelly Blue Book, just to be safe. Especially with that many miles!! I have been reading really great reviews on the MR2, including the 1991. With proper care, those older Toyotas have been known to go 300K miles!!! I have heard that on all Toyotas the timing chain should be replaced every 90k for ultimate performance and reliability!

Q: Are there any tricks to replacing the engine lid release cable on a 2000 Toyota MR2???
I have a 2000 Toyota MR2 and need to replace the engine lid (rear hood) release cable. I see that it runs through the passenger side firewall, then behind the seats somewhere, and down through the driver side sill panel. Is there any tricks that anyone knows to make this as painless as possible? I can’t find any repair manuals for this car either. If anyone knows where to get one or who publishes one, please help with that too. Thanks!!!

A: There is a bulletin on this vehicle from back in 2001 that relates to a spring kit available to allow easier opening of the latch assembly. The bulletin # is B0021-01. Your Toyota dealer can get you the parts required. As far as the replacement of the cable just start at the release and follow the cable if you can. Pull all panels required to access. Some can be difficult to get to so if you can use the old one to pull the new one through areas you can’t get to.

Q: Does anyone have labor times/alldata access to see how many labor hours to swap engine on 2001 Toyota MR2?
I purchased a 2001 Toyota Mr2 spyder, engine was blown (no oil). I’m curious to know how much labor time I’ll be looking at to put a new longblock and time for a shortblock in the car. Their all 5spd. 1.8L. Thanks!

A: Complete without transfer of parts 8.3
Complete assembly with transfer of parts 11.3
with a/c add .1

Short block
Includes: R&I Engine And Replacement Of All Necessary Components

16.8

What extent are you doing with the shortblock

To Grind Valves, Add
All Cyls 11.8
To Overhaul Oil Pump, Add 0.3
With AC, Add 0.1
To R&R Camshaft, Add 1.2
To R&R Cylinder Head, Add 6.8

Q: Can i drive a toyota Mr2 spyder in the snow?
i bought a 2001 toyota mr2 spyder beecause i plan on moving down south after graduation, but i need to make it through this one winter. i live in michigan so the winters can get pretty severe sometimes, if i get some nice winter tires or chain my tires or something do you think ill be able to make it through the winter?

A: Yes.

Just get some Snow Tires and be smart about it.

It’s a Mid/Rear engine set up so all the Weight is over the Tires so you’ll get decent Traction.

Q: what is a fair price for a toyota MR2 from 1990-1995?
im looking for a toyota mr2 from the 1990s. what is a fair price for one in good condition. which is more reliable the normally aspirated or the turbo version?which one preforms better?

A: Look in the Kelly Blue Book online.

Q: Where to get a windshield for a Toyota MR2?
My husband finally was able to get my MR2 through inspection. I just need a new windshield but our Toyota dealer isn’t able or willing to order one. My husband drove around all over Mushriff but failed. It seems that I am the only person in the UAE owning a MR2.
Tin m, Mahesh, Hans – any ideas?

Any advices? Thanks.
Toyota Dealers are no help because for some strange reason they can’t order one.

A: On several occasions I’ve seen people driving MR2’s here but with intact windshields.;)

Try asking some of the dealers in Al Aweer auto market – Dubai Auto Zone , in Ras al Khor area (near Union Coop Al Awir)
http://www.yellowpages.ae/category/car-dealers-_-used-cars/ras-al-khor-industrial-area/3/NTU1MF8yXzJfQWxsXzgyNF9fXyBf/

http://www.dubaifaqs.com/al-aweer-used-car-complex-dubai.php

Perhaps other places like one of Dubai’s scrap yards got one that fits, or there are a bunch of after market auto shops on Etihad road & airport road (area between Deira city center mall and Hor al Anz ~ Sharjah road. Also more such shops in Al Qusais, Al Qouz (area behind auto dealers on SZR), & in Sharjah industrial area.
MR2 specs
http://www.toyota-mr2-turbo-performance-parts.com/mr2-faq.html

http://mr2.com/TEXT/catalogs.html

On the opposite side of the road from the old Hyatt Regency in Deira there are some car detailing & accessories shops near Naif road. I am not sure if they have windshields though.

hmmm… or call Xzibit to pimp your ride… LOL

edit:
I think it is worth trying Monika’s suggestion , better to get from Japan. But if all fails perhaps you could get one of the glass Plexiglas factories to custom cut their product to fit the windshield place. It is amazing they can custom bend house & window glass to any shape with special heat gun they have.

Q: Does anybody know of TOYOTA meet’s or even better MR2 car meetings in southern California?
i own a 1991 toyota mr2, and ive been trying to find toyota or mr2 meetings, or maybe even import meetings, but not like HIN, or those kinds.

A: There are Toyota Motor Clubs everywhere.
You can find info on the MR2 clubs from there.
Also Toyota.com could offer a link. And “mid engine” could lead somewhere.
I bought a 1st gen MR2 the first year they came out (mid ’80’s) and I bought
a 1st gen the last year they were produced. What I great car. It drove and rode
and was as comfortable as a mid-size family sedan. I wish I had kept both those cars.
I bought them both new from the dealer. I was just a car trading fool 25 years ago.

Q: Is there in the Philippines that can make Toyota MR2 Mark II transform into Ferrari F355?
How much it cost all. even change the interiors into F355, sound of exhaust. except the Toyota MR2 Engine. I’m just gonna Upgrade it to make it more fast.

A: Yes, the Toyota plant in Sucat can do that. I don’t know its cost.

Q: When replacing the clutch on a 1985 toyota mr2 does the engine and tranny need to be removed?
There is a tight space back there. Is there a way of replacing the clutch on an aw11 MR2 with out removing the engine and transmission?
U guys have any tips or pics on how I could remove the tranny w/ out the engine?

A: you can remove the trans with leaving the engine in but you need a something to support the engine up top cause your removing and engine mount. a host would be great thou.

Q: what was the first year the Toyota MR2 came to the united states?
Just doing a little resurch. A buddy of mine says he has a 1985 MR2 I think they first came in 1987? So what year did the MR2 come to the States?

A: 1985 was the model year but they were introduced early and actually were being sold in 1984 as 1985 vehicles.

Neighbor bought one when they first came out.

ASE Cert Auto Tech, SCCA Member since 1978

Q: Can I change a headlight assembly on a 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder without removing the bumper?
I have a headlight assembly that needs to be replaced on my 2000 MR2 Spyder. The auto mechanic wants to charge me $350 for the assembly PLUS $100 per hour for labor. He says the bumper may have to come off and if it does then the time to replace the assembly might go from 1 hour to 3 hours. Sounds like a lot to me! Thanks for your answer.

A: go to Advance Auto Parts
ask one of them and they should be able to help you.
DONT pay that much for a mechanic to do that!! Advance can lend a helping hand and pretty much tell you how to do it.

Q: What is wrong with my 1998 Jeep Wrangler?
I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler and lately when Im on the brake or in park my RPMS seem to rev up between 1,000 and 2,000. It does this when Im not on the gas which I am thinking is not normal. Why would it be doing this? I recently had a rebuilt motor, transmission and brand new radiator put in.
I also at times seem to be leaking a lot of water…not sure if this is related to the other problem or not or what this is all on its own as well?
There is A/C in it and I did seem to have some issues with that this summer…i would have it on high at times and it wouldnt even seem to blow out at all…but this was only sometimes cause it worked fine sparatically.

A: you need to look for a vacum hose leak anywhere under the hood it will register lean to the o2 sensor and it will raise the idle to compensat for the aditional air in the system

Q: Can you get a soft top Jeep Wrangler car washed?
I have a 4 door Jeep Wrangler (2007) and was wondering if I can take it through a car wash or will the roof leak?

A: Of course you can wash it… But the harsh chemicals of the automatic car washes should be avoided. Over prolonged time it could possibly lead to discoloration.. I will only go through automatic car washes when i have my hard top on… When my jeep is in soft-top form I either hand wash it or go to the quarter car wash … I only spray soap , soap brush and rinse and spot free rinse on the top itself… I also use some cleaners available at auto parts stores specifically for it… Mine is four years old and still looks brand new minus a few scratches on the windows from Mesquite trees.. I would also say if your Jeep is leaking when going through a car wash they may be covered under your warranty still…

Q: Does anyone know what size wrench is needed to remove the nuts from the door hinge on a Jeep Wrangler?
I bought a 04 Jeep Wrangler 2 months ago. Its getting warmer so I want to take the doors off? Does anybody know the size of the wrench needed to take the nuts off the door hinge? Also does fuse 4 disable all lights inside the jeep when the doors are open?

A: Try your wrenches untill 1 fits…. The fuse I wouldnt pull. There is a wire going to the door switch, pull it off of both sides and the Jeep will never know if the doors are open or closed. Beware that at night this sux cuz there are no lights for the key hole etc…

Q: Should I get a Jeep Wrangler for my first car?
I am doing a little research on Jeep Wrangler YJ’s for my first car and I was wondering if I could get some info on them. I know about the storage space, and that isn’t an issue. So just let me know what you think.

A: Your money, get what you want. But I’ve owned Jeeps all my life.

Q: How long should a Jeep Wrangler Clutch last?
I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with a 4.0 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. It has 54,000 miles on it. I am having trouble with the clutch and the mechanic that I use is telling me I need to replace the clutch. Is this common for the clutch to go up after 54,000 miles? How long should a clutch last?

A: There really is no right answer as clutch life is dependent on too many things…how is it driven, towing, highway vs. stop n go, etc. I’ve had clutches last 300k but if I tried I’m sure I could burn one out in a couple minutes. That said an average jeep clutch should last at least 100k if not abused.

Q: How to lift a jeep wrangler just a few inches?
ok so ive heard of spacers but i dont know exactly what they are…and is that the best way to go if im only wanting 2 more inches…where can i find spacers for a 1999 jeep wrangler sport

A: Check out quadratec.com and use their Lift Kit Advisor. You can find the exact lift you want. they have plenty of spacer lifts to choose from. Get a kit with the spacers and shocks because you need the longer shocks and there is no sense in buying the spacers and shocks seperately. Some kits even give a PDF installation guide on their quadratec page so you can see what it would be like to install one yourself (unless you are taking it to a specialty shop). Skyjacker has a great 2 inch lift.
http://www.quadratec.com/advisor/jeep_lift_kits/selection.php?y=1999 all you have to do here is select the tire size you want to be able to fit on the jeep or the lift size you want. a 2 inch lift will allow you to fit 31″x10.5″ tires comfortably. you can fit 32″x11.5″ if you have proper backspacing on your wheels. (if you go with the skyjacker kit, you will have to choose between nitro and hydro shocks. I dont think there is much of a difference between them so just go with the hydro. they are a few bucks cheaper)
A suspension lift is the way to go. dont do a body lift.
O|||||||O

Q: why is it so difficult to find jeep wrangler YJ full hard doors?
i have a 91 jeep wrangler with the standard half doors and i want to get full hard doors for my car but for some reason they are next to impossible to find, unless im looking in the wrong places. i live in NJ btw. i have looked at the hard upper half jeep doors but realized i didnt like em at all. just wanna simply find full wrangler YJ doors for my car. any help would be appreciated.

A: Because 1996 was the last year the YJ was produced.
I see them for sale on Craigslist all the time with hard tops. Most people do not want to get rid of their factory doors and keep them. You can also find them on e-bay. They are not cheap and aftermarket doors are fugly!

Q: Questions about a 91 and an 89 jeep wrangler?
My boyfriend has a 91 jeep wrangler and he needs a new tail pipe maybe muffler and he found one at pick ‘n’ pull but its an 89. Would the 89 tail pipe/muffler fit a 91?

A: If the ‘89 is the 4.2L and the ‘91 is a 4.0L engine then the tail pipe should be interchangeable.

However, if one is a 4 cyl. (2.5L) and the other is a 6 cyl. (4.2L/4.0L) then they probably won’t swap out.

The muffler should not be a problem if the Jeeps are both 4cyl. or both 6 cyl.

Hope this helps.

Q: can I use a 1994 track bar on my 1989 jeep wrangler?
I need a track bar for my 1989 jeep wrangler and have the opportunity to get one from a 1994 jeeep. Will it work?

A: 87 to 95 is a yj model

Q: Can I buy a remote on/off switch for my Jeep Wrangler off road lights besides buying a remote car starter?
I want to add off road lights on my Jeep Wrangler and I would like to be able to turn them on/off remotely without having to buy a whole car starter kit. My wife and I sit in the woods at our property at night around a campfire and there are times we need to light up the area. I would like to be able to do this without getting up and walking all the way over to where the car is parked.

A: See if this is what you’re looking for..

http://www.xoxide.com/remote-12vdc-relay-kit.html

Q: What is the best year for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon?
I’m getting the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and i’m wondering what is the best off-roading year for it is. I don’t like the new ones very much 07, 08, 09 so count those out.

thx for your help.

A: You are not alone in not being a fan of the latest wrangler design.
A rubicon is a trim package that may not be worth it for you if you have a garage and a set of tools. You might be better off buying a bone-stock 97-99 wrangler with the 4.0 and a 5-speed and putting a couple grand into it yourself. The only real difference in a rubicon is the dana 44 axles, and air lockers. Lockers help, but you really don’t need 44’s unless you plan on running 36 inch tires on it with a long-arm lift and a v8 conversion.
06 is the best year, with the 5 speed.
expect to pay about ten thousand extra for an 06 rubicon, over a 97 or 98 wrangler 4.0. Ten grand buys a lot of mods.

Q: Does anyone know where i can rent a 4 door jeep wrangler in LA?
Im going to LA with 4 mates and we really want to be in one car. The problem is we also want the car to be open-top so there are not that many cars that will fit us and our bags! A jeep wrangler would do it (4 door – 2 door would be too small) Does anyone know where i can rent one? – BHrentacar have them but the wont answer my emails which is strange really as usually car rental companies like to rent cars!

If not can anyone suggest an affordable alternative?

Thanks

A: Hertz

Q: where can in find replacement windows for a soft-top jeep wrangler?
I don’t need to buy a new soft-top for my 2004 jeep wrangler rubicon, just the zipper-installed side and back windows. They seem hard to find without purchasing the entire soft-top.

A: Bestop are the OEM soft top manufacturer for Jeep. Anywhere that sells Bestop should be able to supply the window kit you need. Bestop part numbers are 58128-35 for the Black Diamond kit and 58128-36 for the Khaki Diamond kit.

Q: where is the best place to look for a jeep wrangler crankshaft kit with bearings for an ‘87 wrangler?
need to find the cheaper of the two. Rebuilt engine with fewer than 89,000 miles or cankshaft kit with bearings for an ‘87 Jeep wrangler.

A: Well your question is kind of confusing. A rebuilt engine with less than 89,000 miles? If it is a rebuilt engine, it would have 0 miles on it. If you are talking about a used engine, then of course a salvage yard is the place to go.

The problem with a salvage yard engine is all salvage yard engine is you really have no idea how many miles are on it, or how well it was maintained. Of course the salvage yard owner is always happy to tell you the engine they are selling came out of a low mileage car. Maybe it did. But you don’t know. You also don’t know how many oil changes were done in those miles.

If you are wanting a remanufactured engine or the crankshaft kit, I always reccomend a machine shop. I prefer those over a parts house. Simply because the person who remanufactured the engine or reground the crankshaft is actually on the premises of the machine shop. His reputation (and job) is at stake. You can expect to get a nice quality engine or crankshaft at a local machine shop. Purchasing one at a parts house is not always a safe bet. Since the parts house is usually the third party, the burden of proof is on you should something go wrong with it. You are dealing with the parts house, who in turn is dealing with the supplier when something goes wrong. These engines are usually built on an assembly line with minimum wage employees.

Q: What size lift should I get for 32″ tires on a 05 Jeep Wrangler?
I want to throw some 32″ tires on my automatic 05 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I have stock rims with 30×9.5 on there right now. Should I get a 2″ lift and will the tires fit my stock rims?

A: for wranglers, 32″ should have 3″ of lift to allow for articulation.

Q: What Can I Do To Increase Performance on My 2006 Toyota Camry LE That Won’t Ruin The Engine?
I own a 2006 Toyota Camry LE and I want to know if there is anything i can do to increase performance. Any suggestions are welcome!!

A: try running high octane fuel. consult your user manual before doing this or mechanical modifications to ensure you do not damage your veichle or void its warranty.

also be advised that some modifications may not be legal in your area, please seek legal advice and/or become familiar with the relevant laws.

Q: How do u know when your timing belts are going out on a 97 Toyota Camry XLE?
I have a Toyota Camry 97…I am hearing some sound when i turn the car on..it pretty cold here so the car might be playing some trick on you….I only hear it at the right side of the car where the belt is at.

A: They say change the belt between 60,000 and 90,000 miles. That tells you the lifespan is a bit vague. If you can get the belt cover off and look at the belt you can see the condition a bit. If there are any cracks ot threads fraying, the belt is very close to the end of the road. Don’t play around with this. Have it changed and the water pump too while the mechanic has that area open. You know the belt is going out when the car stops running. Don’t wait that long- fix it before it lets you down- which could be on the freeway and get you killed. The Camry is a non-interfernce so a broken timing belt won’t self destruct the engine, but that would be moot if you’re piled up and dying under a semi.

Q: How do I replace the car stereo in a 1995 Toyota Camry?
Hello Answerers!

I just bought a 1995 Toyota Camry. It still has the stock stereo in it, which I’d like to replace with a new Kenwood unit I bought a few months ago. Additionally, I’d like to replace the factory speakers with a Boston Acoustics set that I bought with the radio. The issue is that I can’t figure out how to remove the old stereo and speakers, and I’m worried I’m going to cause damage to the car, which is in great condition. On my old Lumina, I was able to simply pull on pieces of the dashboard and I was able to access the stereo, this one is providing a bit more resistance.

Can someone provide either detailed instructions or a web link explaining how to replace the stereo?

Thanks in advance!

Joey

A: this are the instructions
good luck

http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Toyota/PDF/869013.pdf

Q: what is the cost of a front axel for a toyota camry le?
front axel on my toyota camry is broken only on the driver’s side. Wanting to know what would be the cost or the estimate cost for the axel.

A: It depends on where you buy it, from Toyota dealer or small parts dealer? Buy reman or brand new? OEM or after market?

I see some repair shop’s ad stating $150 installed.

But an OEM axel at a Toyota dealer sells over $300.

Some small parts dealers sell axels for about $50-70.

Good luck.

Q: what is the difference between the 2007-2010 toyota camry sedan body frame?
i’ve been looking online for a toyota camry and the 07 through 2010 models look the same to me. the pictures don’t show great detail so I can’t tell the difference.

A: Headlight are a little different. Very little different

Q: What is wrong with my Toyota Camry’s steering?
I have a 2001 Toyota Camry LE. Lately when I turn a corner it is as if the power steering completely goes out. It doesn’t last and doesn’t happen consistently. As a matter of fact, it’s been a few days since I’ve noticed anything wrong with the steering. The steering wheel has been making a sort of creaking sound, but that’s it. The power steering fluid is full. Does my rack and pinion need replaced? I just don’t want it to go out on the freeway. Thanks in advance.

A: From what you’re describing with the problem being intermittent it sounds as though it may be the power steering pump. It may be the steering rack, but the pump is the more likely problem. Best idea would be to take it to a shop and have the diagnose it for you though.

Hope this helps

Ken

Q: Toyota Camry Stationwagon: engine CC and does it have a rotary engine?
I know nothing about car engines, and I need to know if my Toyota Camry stationwagon (about 10 years old) would have a rotary engine or not, and how many CC it would be. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A: Only Mazda offered rotary engines, Toyota did not. Mazda still has the RX-8 with a rotary engine.

Q: Where can I buy auto parts for a toyota camry 2002?
I have a 2002 toyota camry and recently a family member broke off the door handle from the outside and I wanted to know where to buy these parts.

A: To get a door handle you’ll have to go to your favorite wrecking yard or Toyota.jb

Q: how does a scion tc compare to a toyota camry in terms of performance?
i have a 6 valve toyota camry with alot of punch. does the scion tc compare?

A: OK, if you were to take a V4 camry and a TC, both stock, the Tc would out handle and out run the camry in about everything.
Now that you are talkin a V6 camry and a Tc, both stock, the Tc would probley get off the line the quickest, and handle alot better in the turns, because the Tc is about 420lbs lighter then the v4 camry and about 510lbs lighter then the v6 camry. Now in the straights the v6 camry would take the Tc just because of the power of the v6.

Now saying all that, if you were to add a super charger to the Tc or turbo, Game Over, Tc wins. I dont know if toyota makes a super chager for the camry but I know that they do for the Tc.

The Tc also has alot of performance parts out there that can be add pretty cheap, I dont think that there is much out there for the camry as far as performance parts. So if one car had performance parts over the other it would be a different ball game.

Q: Is it ok that I use synthetic oil on my 1992 Toyota Camry?
Is it ok that I use synthetic oil on my 1992 Toyota Camry that has about 151,000 miles on it.

A: Yes, if your oil pump, main bearings, engine oil seals and gaskets are in good condition. For a 92 with 150k miles, we can only guess at the conditions of these engine parts. Unless we look at an oil pressure gauge with various grades of oil.

Most synthetic oils are rated 5w20 or 0w20. These oils are extremely thin, they will leak past your oil seals more easily than would a thicker 10w30. I say try it, but if your oil pressure gauge reads too low or the oil light comes on, or if you find you’re more than a quart low at the next oil change, you might consider switching to a heavier grade of oil.

I drive an 86 Toyota MR2 with 225k miles, and synthetic would not be appropriate for me. The reason is, with 225k miles my main bearings are somewhat worn, and no longer hold up oil pressure as they did when they were new. When I use lower viscosity oils, the oil pressure reads too low on the gauge, especially with the engine hot. I get good results with 20w50.

Q: A/C light on my 2003 Toyota Camry is flickering on and off?
I drive a 2003 Toyota Camry. When I try to turn the A/C switch on I am seeing that the green light on the switch flickers on and off.

This has been happening for about two weeks now. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

A: most likely a loose wire, if the unit is working properly that would be a good place to start. unless the unit is kicking on and off (major problem)

Q: What HID kit do i need for a 2001 toyota camry?
I want to get an HID kit but im nervous about buying the wrong kit for my car. If you could please help me out specifically on which kit i should buy for my 2001 toyota camry.

A: Any one that’s specifically built for your Camry.

Don’t be nervous about it. HID kits are very simple and many are universal.

Q: How much will this type of gas leak cost to fix in a ‘95 toyota camry?
I have a ‘95 toyota camry LE I noticed a gas smell a while back but didnt think anything of it at first then I noticed a trail of gas while driving behind my car so i checked it out and its not leaking unless the engine is running and its leaking right next to the driver side front tire. I am trying to get some kind of idea on what this could be and how much it would cost me to get fixed?

A: depends on how you want to fix it. Pay shop several hundred dollars. DYS $40 tops. you will need a tubing cutter, a few wrenches, 6″ length of correct size tubing, and 2 double sided compression fittings of the correct size.

Loosen the brackets holding lines in place up and down the line until you can seperate the leaking one from others cut out leaking section and replace with new line using compression fittings. Do not try to fix with rubber hose it won’t stand up to the pressures involved. Fuel line is high pressure.

Q: Is there a light bulb that can be changed for the radio display on a 1999 Toyota Camry CD/cass unit?
The backlight is not working on my radio in a 99 toyota Camry. It has the double DIN CD/cass unit. Does anyone know FOR CERTAIN if there is a light bulb that can be changed in it?

A: there is 7 or 8 light bulbs around the face and 2 behind the lcd display if everything is off but during daytime or with a flashlight you can see the stations it is only the light bulbs
if your lcd is off and you can not see anything the problem is a lot difficult and radio needs to be repair

Q: Where is the fuel filter located on my 1987 Toyota camry?
I am just trying to locate the fuel filter on a 1987 toyota camry, does anyone know where is it? Thanks- Lee

A: No George is wrong. Open the bonnet, it is fixed with the body in a clip with two small hose pipes, one on the top head and other on the bottom with jubilee clips. There are two types of filters, metal and some times you find of plastic (nylon). Be very careful only change when the engine is cold, place few rags underneath when you undo the jubilee clips as the pressure is there.

Q: What type of engine does my stock Honda civic have?
I have a 1996 Honda Civic HX. It has a 1.6L, Non VTECH, and 5-spd. B? D? Just new to the Honda scene.

A: d16

Q: How Does A 2001 Honda Civic Handle In The Snow?
I’m considering getting a 2001-2005 model Honda Civic, I know they are reliable and last a long time, but I have no clue what they’re like in winter weather. I live in northern Vermont so we get lots of snow/sleet/freezing rain and I’ve always had a 4×4 car so this would be my first front wheel drive car. I’d obviously get winter tires, but how are Civic’s in snow or ice?

A: same as anyother front wheel drive /ok i guess

Q: I’m buying a 1999 Honda Civic with 147,000 miles on it. How many miles does this car typically get?
I’m buying a 1999 Honda Civic with 147,000 miles on it. How many miles does this car typically get? Should I be safe for a few tens-of-thousands more miles? The basic stuff under the hood is in good shape.

A: the better the car was maintained the more miles you will get out of it

Q: Is it possible to attach 2005 honda civic wheels with 4 lugs to my 1998 chevrolet cavalier 5 lugs?
I have these fairly new 2005 honda civic wheels that i’m wanting to replace my current 1998 chevrolet cavalier wheels, but the problem is that new wheels have 4 lugs, not 5. I can only find 4 to 5 adapter plates, but not 5 to 4. Is there a solution?

A: It is possibly but very stupid. Youll need to get new spindle hub assemblys, rotors, drums, breaks, calipers, and some other things. That will cost you more than new wheels themselves.

Q: How do I make my 2005 Honda Civic louder?
I want a cool loud racing noise without spending A LOT of money. I have 2005 Honda Civic Coupe LX. I’ve heard stuff about maybe buying a cold air intake?

A: induction kits improve engine noise, they can be relatively cheap and easy to fit. for really noticeable noise you need an exhaust, they start at simple £70 back boxes, which give you more of a rumbly muffled roar, even at low revs (which isn’t necessarily a good thing), you can get a cat-back exhaust system, which gives you more of a tuned sound and more importantly improved performance as well,
but for the best performance/sounding noise you want a full manifold system (preferably without cat, but won’t pass smog/MOT test)

Full systems do cost alot though — a good one starting at £300, so if you want a cheap, loud noise just go for a back box, although people who know cars will hear the difference and you will most likely get called a ”ricer”, but best ignore that and get what you like.

Q: How do i find out the number for each pin for the 42pin harness connector of honda civic 2009?
How do i find out the number for each pin for the 42pin harness connector of honda civic 2009? I have no ideal which one is pin number 1 or number 2…..etc.
I greatly appreciate the assistance.

A: try looking in your manual

Q: How can I make my 2003 Honda Civic faster?
I have a Automatic 2003 Honda civic Lx. How can I make it faster and what are the cheapest ways to do it. I need to add more horsepower to this car because this car is just way too slow. Give me several options.

A: Vahe,

There are a few approaches to answer your question. You asked for the cheapest, which is different than the best bang for the buck.

The best bang for the buck approach is to implement a turbo or supercharger kit, like those from Greddy and others. If you know what you are doing, you could even create your own kit, though you run a zero percent chance of it being smog legal.

The cheapest way to make your car go faster is to upgrade it component by component. This is the route most choose, because it requires investments over time.

My first recommendation is all of the obvious stuff: Reduce the weight in the car by removing unnecessary items and stripping the interior. Find some used rims that are light too. If you search for used parts online, you should be able to find some 15×7s that are around 10-11 lbs. Its a cheap upgrade.

My second recommendation is to get a Kpro. Yeah, its $1000, but you arent going to be able to take advantage of engine modifications without it (like all of those cold air intakes, headers, and other engine mods).Be sure you get it tuned, or do the datalogging yourself and tune it.

Third, before you consider doing drastic things with the motor, pick up a header and cold air intake. It will reduce the weight of the intake parts, allow the engine to breath easier, and will lean out the fuel to air mixture, which you will adjust with the Kpro.

Anything beyond this will require some serious modification… A good bang for the buck upgrade at this point would be to change the head to an EP3 A2 head. It breaths a lot better and can improve power quite a bit.

Q: How can I get more MPG out of my Honda Civic?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic, and I was thinking about Doing some changes to my car. What should I put in or take out, to get more MPG?

A: 1. use less A/C or roll down the windows more often, it will cut down some gas
2. get a K&N air filter, it will allow more air into the engine and give you more gas millage and more power.
3. take off slower than normal, cars waste more gas with fast acceleration
4. use mid grade or high grade gas, it may cost more, but i realized it gives my car better millage.
5. don’t get that “tornado” product, it’s a scam and does not work, i tired it.
6. look for lower priced gas stations online, it shows you where the lowest prices are in your area. I like shell or chevron and you can usually get your tires air for free at valero

Q: Is the 93 Honda civic del sol passenger window interchangeable?
My del sol just got broken into and they smashed my passenger window. I dont have the money to get a new fitted window and I know Honda are very interchangeable. Can I replace it with a regular civic or anything? Thanks in advance.

A: Im not 100% positive, I would venture to say its not. but you can try calling around to some of the glass places around your town, they should be able to help you out with it. the best place to ask this question is

www.hondatech.com someone on there -should- know for sure, Im not completely positive, but i doubt it.

Q: How to figure out code for why check engine light is coming on in a swapped honda civic?
My friend has a Swapped 1993 Honda Civic Ex that has a 1994 Acura Integra gsr with vtec motor. His check engine light keeps coming on and he wants to know how he can check what it is, he has the equipment to check it. He just needs to know how to do it for a swap he knows how to do it in general for non swapped cars, we tried calling places but they wont tell us due to the fact they want us to come in and spend money.

A: In my car that light comes on when it’s due for an oil change.

Q: How much to paint a 95 honda civic ex hood?
I have a 95 honda civic EX with a black matte paint on just the hood. so it doesnt match the rest of the bodies black glossy paint. how much would it cost to repaint it?

A: It depends on how good you want it to look. You can go and have it done at either Earl Shibe or One-day paint for cheap. They can panel paint it, but there is no guarantee of color match. The proper way to have it done would have it painted and blended into the fenders for a good color match. That will run you roughly around $1000 + .

Q: How much would a new radiator cost for a honda civic?
I just want to know how much a new radiator would cost me on my 2001 honda civic?

A: sorry this is the cheapest i can find

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-02-03-04-05-HONDA-CIVIC-1-7-L4-RADIATOR-NIB-OE-STYLE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZModelQ3aCivicQ7cYearQ3a2001QQitemZ200368304685QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Q: How to remove Honda Civic 30mph and 75 mph warnings?
Just bought a Honda Civic 1.8 EX. Love the car, but there’s a warning that pops up when I reach 30mph then again at 75mph. Is there anyway to remove this?

Thanks
Well I’ve been using my speedo to gauge my speed, guess I’m driving wrong and I need to be working to the warnings…

A: No there is not and why would you want to as it could save you losing your licence

Q: What things can I do to a plain 1998 Honda civic?
I just got a new used Honda civic, and I want to make it run fast and be good. I already want to get new rims but other than that I’d like to know what can be done and what really is happening when people soup up there cars.

A: Ok, first performance wise. If you want a high performing honda, usually turbo is the way to go. Now you can not just slap a turbo on there and throw a ton of boost, probably bend a rod or blow a piston out of the block. Do an engine swap, like a B series or possibly the H22 swap if you have the money and time, it has more power. From there you need to build the engine up like bigger pistons, and boring it out, but you want flat top pistons because it lower the compression ratio, which is what you want for an optimal turbo setup and it increases the size of the combustion chamber. You also may want to do some head work like cams and springs and valves. After you get the turbo you will also need to get the car tuned because you are putting a lot more air into the cylinder per intake stroke than before so you need to counter the air with more fuel. From there you also need the basic bolt on’s like a Cold air intake, Headers (if you don’t want a turbo), cat back exhaust, and get hondata (an ecu tuning program). You also will want to make the car a manual transmission if it is an automatic because the real power is the manuals because the automatics are a lot heavier and have a slow throttle response time through the drive train. Then you can do new shocks and lowering springs. Depending on how low you drop it, you will need to get a camber/alignment kit to alter the negative camber which makes the wheels bend inwards and take it to a shop to get aligned. After that you can do new tailights, headlights, possibly H.I.D. with the headlights, the rims you were talking about, you can do a body kit, but personally if you want performance, lowering it is better because you get better handling around turns and if you drop it and get a body kit then it is really low and any pothole will screw all your body kit up. Then you can do you interior like new gauge faces, racing seats, racing steering wheel if you want. Also what a lot of show guys do is they fiberglass the interior dash components and paint a custom color or the actual car color and it looks really good. Hope this points you in the right direction, good luck man.!

Q: best ways to tune a 1998 honda civic ex?
I have a 1998 honda civic ex, and i was woundering what are some tips to help quicken it up, i already have a cold air intake on it but am not sure what else to do to it.

A: First step is to finish up the breathing… header, cat and exhaust. If you don’t mind a little white knuckle turning in parking lots then bypass the power steering and in the cold season bypass the a/c. If it is an auto then swap out the transmission for manual and when you do that put on a lightweight flywheel and/or clutch. Definitely try to get rid of some weight, it can be free and will improve every aspect of your vehicles performance, and make sure to stay away from large rims because they are heavier unless you spend a lot of money on lightweight ones. You could also do carbon fiber parts, lightweight windows, under drive pulleys, camshaft, im, im gasket, wrap the header, tb, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, engine swap, built head, nos and so on.

Nos is a nice option for extra power at the push of a button, some will tell you it will burn up your engine but guess what… so will your right foot. If you are responsible with nos it can be fine, you could probably get away with a 35 shot safely on stock internals.

Chipping it would be an improvement but you want to do that after you are content with the rest of your mods so that the chip is tuned properly… DON’T BUY OFF EBAY FOR CHIPS, have a reputable shop do it, best option would be to have a knowledgable shop put it on a dyno and tune it right, that will probably earn you about 7 whp. ebay chip = 0-5 whp or maybe even worse than stock if your unlucky.

It all depends on your budget and how fast you wanna go.

Q: The bible vs simon says?
The bible was written by humans.

It was then translated by humans.

To this day humans from every religion interpret their holy book in a way that may or may not be right.

Some say its text was directed by god but there is no CONCLUSIVE evidence IT exists where science has disproved many beliefs over the centuries.

In fact there is more proof of evolution as the source of all that exists than there is proof of god. (not that I believe there is no creator, I just can’t prove or disprove it so there’s no point in wasting time worshipping it. It’s like praising the talent of x factor winners although infinitely easier).

However people are happy to say “the bible says…” to justify anything and direct their every action.

So what’s the difference between the bible and “simon says.”

Also, the bible says, and I quote “and I say unto you, give Sarah all of your worldly good, buy her a ferrari 458 Italia.” It’s in genesis, first line.

A: People shouldn’t read The Bible literally. Period.

Q: Exotic Car(ferrari, lambo, maserati) Owners PLZ HELP?
So my dad is purchasing an Italia 458 this upcoming summer (plz dont say thats a waste of money). I know that when u drive an exotic around…it’s going to draw ALOT of attention..because a good amount of people in my town have exotics and they always talk about how much attention it draws from other places..And people are also going to be hating and saying that the owner is compensating for something..So to all you exotic owners on YA…what do you say back when someone asks you something rude?? and also…how do you deal with all the attention? Thanks a bunch.

A: Ignorant people are always going to be rude, whether they perceive that you wear better clothes then them or drive a better car then them. I typically handle rude comments by just ignoring them… and then driving away normally. I’ve heard them all – from comments about the size of my “manhood”, to guys screaming “buy American!” while driving a rusted out pickup.

Dealing with the attention is kind of the same way. I’m not a show off, I worked hard to make the money to afford my car. I don’t do things to attract attention – I don’t do burn outs, I don’t drive fast on the streets (I save that for the race track), I don’t zip in and out of traffic. I do react to people’s nice comments, smile, wave, say thanks, answer questions about the car. And, I’m especially nice to kids – letting them sit in the car, giving rides when possible.

It’s all an attitude thing. Just like people that make rude comments about the car – I’ve met as many rude exotic car owners, turning their noses up at people, making equally rude comments back to people that are just interested in the car. I hate the guys that act like they’re special just because they can afford expensive toys… Congrats to your dad, I hope he enjoys the Italia!

Q: What is a better car for me?
Ok to start 1st of all I can afford to get these cars so don’t go hating on me if I’m wealthier then you, thanks.

Today me and my son went to check out cars and we went and saw 3 cars: Ferrari California, Ferrari 458 Italia, and Bentley Continental GT

P.S. I already have a Land Rover LR4 as my every day car my wife has a Mercedes Benz GL class and my son has a Lexus LX and now I want a fancy car because I just sold my Maserati Granturismo S to be honest with you me and my son liked the Ferrari California the most

I have around 200k to use.

Please don’t be jealous and I’m not lying about any of this.

A: you already know what car is best for you

Q: What do you think 10 Points?
Do you think if you already owned your 2 million dollar home in L.A, and still had 4 million dollars and you decided to start your own Exotic car rental business do you believe you will succeed?

These Cars would be in your rental lot

1. 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia

2. 2008 Lamborghini Lp640

3. 2010 Aston Martin Vantage

4. 2008 Maserati Quattroporte

5. 2009 Bmw m3

6. 2010 Range Rover Supercharged

Total cost=$830,000

A: i don’t think I would succeed because I know NOTHING about cars whatsoever.

Q: Would it work out 10 points?
Do you think if you had 2 million dollars you can start your own Exotic car rental business?, and still succeed in the end here in California?

These Cars would be in your rental lot

1. 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia

2. 2008 Lamborghini Lp640

3. 2010 Aston Martin Vantage

4. 2008 Maserati Quattroporte

5. 2009 Bmw m3

6. 2010 Range Rover Supercharged

A: I am not a business expert and I don’t live in California but I think you have an original and wonderful idea! I think with the right marketing and sound business advice you could succeed.

Q: Would it work out 10 points?
If you had 2 Million Dollars cash do you think you will succeed opening a new Exotic Car Rental Service In Ca with these cars.

1. 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia

2. 2008 Lamborghini Lp640

3. 2010 Aston Martin Vantage

4. 2008 Maserati Quattroporte

5. 2009 Bmw m3

6. 2010 Range Rover Supercharged

Do you think you will succeed in the end?

A: no/all it takes is one dip to get killed in a ferrari and thats the end/nobody rents these cars except movies

Q: Where is the air filter for a dodge charger?
I have a 2010 Charger and I’ve only had it since July, but the air in it already stinks. I take good care of it and vacuum, clean and polish every 2-3 weeks. I don’t understand why it smells, but I’m pretty sure it’s the air filter that is smelly. Every time I turn on the car it stinks for a few minutes then goes away. and it’s the kind of smell you can’t ignore… How do I get rid of the problem?

A: you bought a new car so you should be able to run the a/c anytime you want to ,yo need to take it back to them and have them check the heater box, the drain pipe may jot be installed right on it allowing the water to set in the heater box and mildew.the filter is on the outside part under the hood top part of the heater box,and its replaceable, good luck with it.

Q: Ford Mustang GT Convertible or Dodge Charger?
I am purchasing a new car this week. I am having a hard time deciding between the Dodge Charger or the Ford Mustang GT Convertible.

They have 0% financing with Dodge for the first 3 years but I will have it paid off before that.

Ford doesnt have the same financing but I can pay cash for the Mustang so I wont incur finance charges.

Other than the financing, what is your favorite between the two. My insurance is almost exactly the same between them so that isnt helping with the decision.

A: I like the Charger better but…if you can more easily afford the Mustang, why not go with that?

Q: How can I hotwire a dodge charger?
I have an 08 charger and i lost the keys but i really need to be somewhere at the moment so i need to know how to hotwire it? Serious answers only

A: 1st you shove a large screwdriver into the ignition switch and pry it until the steering wheel lock breaks (~$500 to repair), this will let you make turns while driving.

Good luck on fooling the computer.

Q: where can i find the “Whole” Daytona decal kit for my Dodge Charger RT?
I just bought a Dodge Charger RT and want to buy the daytona kit for it, but everywhere i look online its in pieces…so you have to buy each part seperate. Thanks

Q: can a dodge charger outrun a nissan altima?
my friend wants to race.

My altima (a 98) has a 2.4 L 4cyl and this thing practically flies!Simply amazing performance for a four banger, feels like a v-6(I could only imagine what the new v-6 altima could do!)

my friends got a charger (base engine 2.7 L) and i have read that this engine struggles under the cars hefty weight but he claims he could beat me.

A: I believe that your Altima will be able to outrun your friends Charger. The Altima has a weight to power ratio of 18.4 lbs/hp and the Charger has a weight to power ratio of 20.9 lbs/hp. However the Altima has a higher axle ratio of 3.65 vs 3.9 (charger), which means it could have a slightly lower acceleration. Both the Charger have peak torque at around the same place, 4400 RPM for the Altima and 4000 RPM for the Charger. Your Altima will apparently top out at 120 MPH or 193 Km/h. Im not sure of the top speed of the Charger but I believe it is near there. It probably will take the Charger longer to get up to top speed because its peak HP is a 5500 RPM and it redlines at 6600 RPM. In conclusion I think that your car would definitely be able to beat out the Charger.

Q: Is the Dodge charger considered an american muscle car?
I keep hearing it’s a muscle car but my friend said it’s a ‘town car’ and doesn’t count as a muscle car because it’s not a GT, stang, other metal cars from the 60;s lol.

Who is right and can you prove it?

A: In today’s terms, it could be considered one – if you think the BMW M5 would be considered one too – but in truth it’s not. Four-doors don’t cut it.

The original Charger came with the 318 Poly standard, which is hardly a musclecar. Performance engines (whether a 440 or the SRT’s) are what make a musclecar. But to call a Charger a “town car?” Your friend is on crack. I think, in today’s era, to see a late-model Charger V8 going against a Mustang GT is not unusual.

Q: In what year did the Dodge Charger start splitting the front grill?
Up to I believe 1968 they had the full solid grill with the headlights that flipped over. When did they start putting the metal piece in the middle of it?

A: 69 got the divider

Q: i need personalized license plate suggestions for a dodge charger?
hi. i just broke free of a very oppressing relationship and needless to say im feeling very liberated. i went out and purchased a 2007 dodge charger. my motto now is “its all about me”. i cant think of a catchy plate saying. i thought about ‘mememe’ or ‘on top’ but i need more suggestions. any suggestions will be helpful. thanks!!! oh it can only br 7 characters long

A: BRKLOSE

like break loose from relationship and also could be seen as spining the tires

Q: Who built the motors in the fast and the furious 1’s Dodge Charger?
Have a mechanic who is a friend of a friend and has claimed was one of the mechanics that helped build the Charger. I am considering having him do some work on my car but I want to find out if he is legit.

A: First off, it was a movie car. It was built by people who build cars…to be driven wrecklessly a few times on a movie set. That car had about 1/3 the power they claimed in the movie, so if he’s claiming it had the claimed 900hp and he helped build it, he’s lying. Also, “helped build the charger” could mean he ran and got water for the people who actually worked on it. You might want to get more specifics from him as to WHAT he did on the car. Post it back or just email me and I’ll tell you if he’s FOS or not. You could ask him what kind of blower was on it too, that will help, because there was no blower on that car. What you saw sticking “out” of the hood of the car was, in fact, bolted TO the hood on the driving car. The one where you see the hood off very well could have been 900hp, but they obviously weren’t going to use it for stunts.

Q: I need help with a 1971 Dodge Charger 318 automatic?
I’m currently restoring a 1971 Dodge Charger. I had the car cranking the other day but it wouldn’t turn over. Now the car won’t even crank. I replaced the battery, battery cables and the starter but when i turn the key nothing happens. however, there is a popping noise that comes from the distributor ( to me it sounds like it’s trying to fire) and the lights dim. so I don’t think it’s the ignition switch. Im stuck and would greatly appreciate some help. thanks

A: you got a book, trust my words, goto the start relay.check it thoroughly

Q: In a 2008 Dodge Charger all speakers stop working what can i do to fix that?
My speakers in my dodge charger stop working

A: factory or aftermarket
factory ,get warranty
aftermarket ,see your installer

Q: What is the movie where a black dodge charger kills people?
I know it was a B-rated horror film but cannot think of the name. No it was not the Wrath and no it is not Christine or The Car. What was the name of the movie? I don’t remember it too well but I think the car didn’t have a driver.

A: Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071424/plotsummary

*just a guess

Another guess

Wheels of Terror (1990) (TV)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100917/plotsummary

Q: Why does my 2007 dodge charger sound like the lifters are sticky?
This happened before and a fresh oil change fixed it, now almost 500 miles till 3000 what should i do!

A: If it is your lifters try changing your oil and filter and add some ZEMAX or RIZONE to the oil.

Q: How can I horsepower to my ‘07 Dodge Charger?
It is a basic Charger with 2.7 L and I want it to go fast and hard.
How can I ^^ADD^^ horsepower to my Dodge Charger? It is a basic Charger with 2.7 L. I want it to go fast and hard.

A: you want the truth?
trade it in for a V8,,,hemi if you can..any money you put into that tiny engine is money wasted,,there are NO racing parts for that engine,,repeat NO parts…you could put nitrous oxide,,,its expensive and will distroy that engine in short order,,,you gain 100 HP for 5 to 10 secounds every time you use it,,[look up nitrous oxide on summit racing.com or jegs.com

sorry but no help for that engine,,,just not made to go..

Q: my 2008 dodge charger will not start. when you put the key in nothing on the dash lights up?
ONLY THE DOOR ADJAR LIGHT COMES ON, THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WORK. THE BATTERY IS GOOD . CHECKED ALL FUSES, STILL MY CAR WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. LIKE ITS COMPLETELY DEAD. DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO ANYONE?

A: yes it does ,check the asd relay on it to see if it went bad, also check to make sure its in park all the way, from what you just described on it could also be the main ignition fuse has blown on it, it kills the power to everything on the car,it causes a no start and no run situation on them, good luck with it.
